If you’ve never heard of Pink Floyd, fear not, this article is going to inform you of why Pink Floyd is one of the greatest artists in this world. You’ve probably heard of some of their things without realizing it, but if you’ve never heard of them, they’re the creators of the album “The Dark Side of the Moon” and “Wish You Were Here” which are undoubtedly some of the best albums ever. Just as an introduction to what Pink Floyd is, you should know that firstly they’re an English rock/alternative band who has produced some of the best music I’ve personally ever heard. The members of Pink Floyd started out as a group of young teenage college students. The members have varied, but these members include originally of Syd Barrett, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, and later including Nick Mason and Richard Wright. They were formed in London originally in 1965 and they’ve produced some insane progressive and psychedelic music that is crazily pleasing to listen to. Their genres fall under rock, specifically progressive, art and psychedelic rock but some would also consider them alternative rock as well.Through several changes of personnel, musical phases, the band has earned a place on the ultimate rock hall of fame, residing along with the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. For their monumental impact on music and rock, Pink Floyd has very deservedly been rewarded as well as win awards and honor worldwide. In terms of their lyrical themes and context, it’s known that their interests lie in truth and illusion, life and death, time and space, causality and chance, compassion and indifference. Their lyricism is as well one of the key aspects that makes Pink Floyd one of the greatest artists in history, with their rich power and meaningful truths.
But anyways, here’s a VERY short list of some crazy good Pink Floyd songs:
- Comfortably Numb
- Wish You Were Here
- Shine on You Crazy Diamond
- Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2
You’ll have to listen to these songs (and more!) and experience the whole Pink Floyd sensation of greatness and pure genius-ness!
