Thoughts on Uniforms

Uniforms can be annoying or convenient. It could be annoying in that you are not able to wear what you want. It could be convenient because you don’t know what to wear. Personally, I find uniforms to be problem solvers. With uniforms, you don’t have to worry about what you are going to wear, what you don’t want to repeat wearing, or whether what you’re wearing is school appropriate. Other people may disagree and say that uniforms are depriving students of expressing themselves. That is true in a way, but there are many ways someone can express themselves. Other people may say that uniforms are not equipped for the weather changes and that, too, could be true. It could be a struggle with uniforms and harsh weather.

Uniforms have improved in our school over the past few years. It used to be a simple jacket and pants for the winter and shirts and shorts for the summer. Then, the winters started getting colder and the uniform company started to make warmer jackets and sweaters. Slowly they were able to improve. The summers are really hot, though, so it’s hard with uniforms; you don’t have the freedom of wearing whatever makes you comfortable. Our school is not as strict about uniforms as other schools are. Some schools require people to wear only black shoes. Our school isn’t that extreme.

Uniforms can be bad or good; it just depends on how you look at it. Many students don’t like uniforms because they enjoy the comfort and the style of their own cloths. Some people do like uniforms because they are convenient and less worrisome. You might think that picking out your own clothes isn’t worrisome at all, while I think it is. Like I said before, it all depends on your view of it.
