Today, October 21st, AISE competed at a tournament in CAC. Four matches were played by 4 different schools, including AISE. To be honest, even though AIS lost, it was an exhilarating experience to be apart of. I have always loved being apart of something bigger than me as an individual. But I never thought that it would have that much of an impact on me. I had to wake up at 6:30 in the morning to play 4 matches, each were 40-45 minutes. I was not necessarily that excited, but nevertheless I was ready to give it my all. Even though by the end of the day, the whole team was sweaty and both emotionally and physically spent. I went home feeling a weird sense of satisfaction, and this isn’t about the outcome of such experience, but rather the moments we all shared. I was truly able to feel the true essence of communication. As a team, we all share the same goals, emotions, losses, wins, and frustration. The whole team would feel sad or the entire team would feel pride altogether. This experience allowed me to escape myself for a day, as I have become a team player, and only that. My role just like all the other girls on my team was to defend, score, and have my team’s back. No one had a more important role than the other because without one, the whole team would fall apart. Without a doubt, there are areas where serious improvement and practice is needed. But there is a rare comfort to be found within this spirit, which I think is only to be found among such an experience.
