As an IB senior is more than halfway through the program, it is safe to say I have quite a lot to say about the program.

I remember before entering the program, I was extremely skeptical about whether or not I should enter. I feared it would be a lot of work and that the program would basically consume my life. However, it is safe to say it was the right decision to end up entering the program fully.

Probably the most asked question about IB is, “Is IB hard?” In all honesty, IB is not necessarily easy, but it is very doable. Is it a lot of work? Yes. But, is the content complicated? No, the content is not that difficult. However, if you plan on going into IB and procrastinating or not doing any work, then you are in for a massive struggle.

It is very easy to succeed in IB, but the most important thing is time management. For example, if you get assigned an assignment on Sunday that is due on Tuesday, you might think that you can leave it to Monday night and that you will have time to do it. However, by the time Monday night comes, you would have already gotten another assignment assigned on Monday that is due on Tuesday as well. Therefore, the most important thing in the IB program is time management and not procrastinating. If you are able to manage your time properly, then you will have a much easier time and a lot of fun as well during the program.

You’ll still be able to go out with your friends on Thursdays and even Fridays or Saturdays. You’ll be able to watch your favorite TV shows and play all the sports you like to play. You will still be able to live your life. So, don’t stress about it and don’t think IB is something that it isn’t. IB is a lot of work, but it is not impossible or for geniuses. If you work, you will succeed. It is as simple as that.
